Wildfire Relief Fund

In the spring of 2022, over 100 Luna students and staff were evacuated from their homes in Northern New Mexico during the Calf Canyon and Hermit's Peak Wildfires. For 4 weeks, the campus of Luna Community College was closed and was utilized as a home base for the National Forest Service and firefighters from all around the country during that time.

The LCC Foundation created the Wildfire Relief Fund to aid students and staff affected by the wildfires.   Between June and December 2022 the Foundation dispersed $30,000 to help cover the cost of food., gas and clothing lost in the disaster, the cost of traveling, and to help minimize the financial burden set forth by the evacuations our staff and students endured.
